Biography
Dr Glenn Flux is Head of Radioisotope Physics at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research.He studied theoretical physics at Queen Mary College, University of London, and the applications of physics to medicine at the ICR.
He leads a team of clinical and research scientists to provide support for nuclear medicine with a research focus on quantitative SPECT/CT and PET/CT imaging and the development of personalised treatment planning in molecular radiotherapy.
Dr Flux is chair or member of several national and international committees including an International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) working group on radionuclide therapy, the British Nuclear Medicine Society (BNMS) molecular radiotherapy group and the EANM radiation protection group. He has published widely on aspects of physics for radioisotope imaging and therapy and has led many research studies.
He is currently commencing clinical dosimetry-based trials for the treatment of thyroid cancer with radioiodine, supported by the UK Department of Health and the European Commission. He has a strong interest in generating local and international collaborations between academic research and clinical practice with a particular focus on multi-disciplinary.
