On Tuesday 13th May 2025, the ICR saw our name in lights on the big screens at the real-life Tottenham Hotspur Football Club Stadium, thanks to our amazing supporters at CBPE!
The charity football match and combined efforts of CBPE staff raised over £60,000 for cutting-edge research into metastatic (secondary) breast cancer, a cause very close to the hearts of the organisers. None of this would have been possible without all the companies who took part: ABI, Alantra, Aquaspersions, Arrowpoint Advisory, Baird, BKL, Blatchford, CBPE, DC Advisory, DCL, Deloitte, FSP, Healthnet, HF, HGF, HSBC, Investec, KMPG, Liberty, Mindera, PwC, Raymond James, Tetra Consulting, The Key, and Veincentre. The organisers of the match, Laura West and Matt Murphy, said:
“We are delighted to support this wonderful charity with their vital work in developing smarter, more effective treatments that save lives."
When cancer starts in the breast and spreads to other parts of the body, this is known as metastatic or secondary breast cancer. Secondary breast cancer can be treated but not cured. In the UK, there are around 61,000 people living with secondary breast cancer, and the disease kills 1,000 people every month on average. Around 90% of all cancer deaths occur because cancer cells that originated in one place were able to spread. A key focus for the ICR’s scientists is to understand how cancer spreads and to find ways to treat metastatic cancer more effectively, leading to more years of health and life for patients. Professor Kristian Helin, Chief Executive of the ICR, said:
“Research has been a driver for remarkable improvements in treatments in recent decades. Scientific innovation can reshape the future of cancer care and give hope to countless patients worldwide.”

Cancer treatments take years to come to fruition, which can feel remote and daunting. But without funding, ‘years’ becomes ‘never’. The ICR could not have made the progress we have made already without the impact of our supporters, and we are sincerely grateful to everyone who gave generously to us through the football match at Tottenham Hotspur.
