Professor Mary O’Brien is a Trinity College Dublin medical graduate. She has been a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust for many years and is the Head of the Lung Unit at The Royal Marsden. She was awarded the title of Professor of practice (medical oncology) from Imperial College London in 2018 for her commitment to research and teaching.
Professor O’Brien specialises in the treatment of breast and lung cancer, including mesothelioma. Her interests span all aspects of treatment development, including clinical trials. She has a vast experience in the development and use of immunotherapy and targeted therapies.
She is Group Leader of the Treatment of Thoracic Tumours Group.
