Lunch and learn

To mark Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, the Corporate Partnerships Team was delighted to open our doors at Chester Beatty Laboratories and welcome our corporate supporters with an exclusive Lunch and Learn. Professor Trevor Graham and members of his world-leading team shared insights into their cutting-edge research on bowel cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Professor Trevor Graham speaks to a group in a lecture theatre.

The event was attended by guests from CBPE, Gensler, Socius, Air Canada, Hatch, IPCO, Boston Limited, BIOS IT, CRIS Cancer Foundation UK, Beazley, and St. Mark's Hospital and Academic Institute.

Speakers Professor Trevor Graham, Dr Pebs Edwards, Dr Annie Baker, and Dr Chloé Colson shared powerful insights into prevention and early detection of bowel cancer, the alarming rise in rates among young people, and the use of advanced computational approaches to better understand why cancers develop and how we can tackle them earlier.

Of those who responded to our feedback questionnaire, 75 per cent reported that their knowledge of the ICR had increased and 100 per cent said they now had a greater connection to the ICR and would recommend the lunch and learn to colleagues.

Speaking about the event, Tom Bland, Deputy Director of Development, said:

“It was hugely satisfying to see how engaged and impressed the representatives from our corporate supporters were. It was a great opportunity for our researchers to show the depth and ground-breaking nature of our science and discoveries, and I think everyone in the room took something away from this event."

The generosity of our supporters enables us to accelerate the pace and widen the scope of our research, helping to drive progress for patients now and in the future.
