Professor Pascal Meier

Professor Pascal Meier and his team are investigating the complex relationship between cell death, immunity and tumorigenesis. Particularly, we are focussing on the role of cell death and inflammation in adaptation to tissue stress, treatment resistance and tumour surveillance. Group: Cell Death and Immunity

Professor Meier studied for his Diploma (Swiss equivalent to MSc) in Developmental and Molecular Biology and PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Zürich, Switzerland.

He then moved to the London Research Institute (LRI, former ICRF) at Cancer Research-UK, London to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Professor Gerard Evan.

In 2000, Professor Meier started his own research laboratory in the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre (formerly known as Breakthrough) at the ICR.

In 2003 he was elected member of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme (YIP), and in 2009 he was awarded the title of Professor in Molecular Cell Biology. In 2012 he received the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award, and in 2013 he was elected EMBO member.

Professor Meier is a member of the Cancer Research UK Convergence Science Centre, which brings together leading researchers in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences and medicine to develop innovative ways to address challenges in cancer.
