Professor Pascal Meier is researching the mechanisms by which cancer cells avoid cell death and survive in order to develop new cancer drugs that target these processes. Biography

Professor Meier studied for his Diploma (Swiss equivalent to MSc) in Developmental and Molecular Biology and PhD in Molecular Biology at the University of Zürich, Switzerland.

He then moved to the London Research Institute (LRI, former ICRF) at Cancer Research-UK, London to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Professor Gerard Evan.

In 2000, Prof. Meier started his own research laboratory in the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre (formerly known as Breakthrough) at the ICR.

In 2003 he was elected member of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme (YIP), and in 2009 he was awarded the title of Professor in Molecular Cell Biology. In 2012 he received the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award, and in 2013 he was elected EMBO member.
