An experimental targeted drug could treat a rare type of cancer usually affecting the limbs, a clinical trial led by The Institute of Cancer Research has shown.

A significant minority of patients with advanced and aggressive cancer have survived more than 10 years after treatment with one of the first successful targeted cancer drugs.

Leading researchers from The Institute of Cancer Research, London, and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust attended a reception at Number 10 Downing Street with Prime Minister Theresa May – to raise awareness of research into sarcoma, a rare cancer.
