Family trio run The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon

Having beaten breast cancer, Emma Ali-Noor was thrilled to be offered the chance to run The Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon to help raise vital funds for The Institute of Cancer Research.

Emma, Sehar and Steve

On Sunday 6 October 2013, in bright sunshine, Emma, her husband Sehar and her brother Steve Brown successfully completed the 13.1-mile course that took them through St James’s and Hyde Park.

They were cheered on by the bustling crowds that lined the course and were supported by Rafah, a black Labrador who is a friend of the family and ran part of the course with them! Together the trio raised over £4,000 towards our world-leading cancer research.

Emma says, "Running long distances is not something I enjoy but we were extremely pleased to have been offered places in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon so we could raise funds for the important work of the ICR. I was treated at The Royal Marsden. It is down to their partnership with the ICR that I was able to successfully fight breast cancer and make a full recovery.

"As a result of the amazing care I receive I wanted to give something back to those who helped me and those who are working to bring about a cure for all cancers. This, for me, made the ICR the most appropriate recipient of my fundraising efforts."

If you would like to support the ICR and are interested in taking part in one of our running events, email [email protected], or see our Sports and challenges page for more event listings throughout 2015 and 2016.
