Our teams work at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data – for instance, applying machine learning to the challenge of cancer evolution, and using our canSAR database to find new drug targets. Developed at the ICR, canSAR contains billions of data points integrated from diverse datasets – from next-generation sequencing to multi-modality imaging and patient data.
Underpinning this work is our £2.8m, six-petabyte research data storage service. Our sector-leading system combines resilience and security with very rapid access, meaning researchers can store, share and retrieve their data with ease.
Scientific Computing provide many other services, including support for scientific software, linux servers and desktops, software for scientific instrumentation, and training and consultation.
There is also an active user community, which meets regularly and allows researchers from different areas of the ICR to share knowledge and best practice.
