The Sarcoma Clinical Trials in Children and Young People Team aims to improve the outcomes of children and young people treated for soft tissue sarcoma – particularly high-risk and relapsed rhabdomyosarcoma – through the development of novel targeted therapies.

Since paediatric soft tissue sarcomas are very rare, this will be achieved through collaborative clinical trials at national and international level, working in partnership with translational and preclinical researchers.

The team work closely with the Sarcoma Molecular Pathology Team in the ICR, to use preclinical data to determine treatment intensity for patients with rhabdomyosarcoma and to introducing drugs against relevant therapeutic targets.

Close collaboration with the European Paediatric Soft Tissue Sarcoma Study Group and Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer allows the team to develop relevant clinical trials to test new sarcoma treatments in children and young people.
