Dr Fernando Carceller, Paediatric & Adolescent Neuro-oncology and Drug Development Team
He qualified in Medical School at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2007, and completed his training in Paediatrics at Niño Jesus Children’s Hospital (Madrid) in 2011. Dr Carceller started training in Paediatric Oncology in Madrid in 2010 and joined the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 2012 as a Clinical Fellow.
Between 2013 and 2016 Dr Carceller worked as Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric & Adolescent Drug Development at the Royal Marsden, where he also developed an interest in Functional Imaging. His MD thesis studied the applications of Functional MRI in Paediatric Drug Development and it was granted an Extraordinary Doctorate Award by the Autonomous University of Madrid.
Dr Carceller started as Locum Consultant with an interest in Paediatric Neuro-Oncology in 2016 and he was subsequently appointed to the corresponding substantive Consultant post. He is principal investigator or co-investigator in a number of Paediatric Neuro-Oncology trials and Early Phase trials for children with relapsed/refractory solid tumours and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Cancer Research.
He is passionate about Paediatric Neuro-Oncology, Functional MRI and Paediatric Drug Development; and he is particularly interested in ensuring access to novel therapies for children and adolescents with relapsed/refractory brain tumours.
