Gift Aid
Boost your donation through tax-effective giving
If you’re a UK taxpayer, you can use Gift Aid to make your donations go further by completing a Gift Aid Declaration. If you do, The Institute of Cancer Research will receive an additional 25p for every pound you give through tax relief and at no extra cost to you.
Higher Rate Tax Payers
If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim back the difference between the basic rate and higher rate tax.
For example, if you pay 40% tax and you give £100 we will receive an extra £25 and you can reclaim another £25. Therefore, the ICR receives £125 at a cost to you of £75.
What to do next
Please complete the Gift Aid Declaration on the donation form, if:
- you are a UK taxpayer
and
- the amount of income or capital gains tax that you pay at least equals the tax that we reclaim on your donation (basic tax rate currently 20%).
The standard Gift Aid wording on our forms only applies to donations made in the 4 years prior to the date of declaration and any future donations.
Please notify us if you change your name and address while the Declaration is in force.
You can cancel the Declaration at any time by notifying us, eg if your circumstances change and you are no longer paying tax on your income or capital. The Declaration will then not apply to donations you make on or after the date of cancellation or such later date as you specify.
If you wish Gift Aid to cover only the donation that you are currently making, please make it clear on the form.
If you are unsure about whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, you can call the Inland Revenue on 0845 302 0203 and ask for the Gift Aid notes or visit their website.
Thank you again for your kind donation to The Institute of Cancer Research.
