Give in memory
When someone close to us dies, giving a gift in their memory is a very special and poignant way to remember a loved one.
By choosing to support The Institute of Cancer Research you will provide much needed funding for our 850 scientists who continuously do research into cancer in all its forms.
Giving in memory is simple and, we hope, convenient for you.
Please send in your donations by printing and completing this form. Return these to the address printed on the form. We will acknowledge all gifts and, if applicable, notify the next of kin of your kind generosity. For privacy, we do not disclose the gift amounts.
There are other ways you may remember a loved one:
We can also show you how your donations can help us.
Donations in lieu of floral tributes
Some people prefer to give donations in place of flowers. Please download our In Lieu of Flowers Donation form and return it to us. We will acknowledge all gifts and, if applicable, notify the next of kin of your kind generosity. For privacy, we do not disclose the gift amounts.
If you would like people to make a donation to The Institute of Cancer Research in lieu of flowers we suggest you include a request in your loved one’s death notice.
An example of wording is: ‘Donations in lieu of flowers to The Institute of Cancer Research, FREEPOST LON 922, London SW7 3YY’.
Set up a tribute fund
When we receive a gift in someone's memory, we can establish a Tribute Fund in their honour. The Fund named after your loved one gives friends, relatives and colleagues a focus for making their own individual contribution. They might want to make a regular gift, given monthly from their pay or by standing order, or perhaps on a Birthday, on Mother’s or Father’s Day, or on an Anniversary. Some people also like to set up events to remember a loved one. We will manage the administration of the Fund, and will let you know how much money in total has been raised, and who the Fund supporters are.
If you would like more information about setting up a Tribute Fund, please contact us by email.
If you would like to raise donations in lasting memory of the life of your loved one, why not consider starting an online tribute fund on behalf of the ICR. Click on the button below to create an In Memory fundraising page hosted by Justgiving.
How your gifts will help us
- £10 will allow us to buy 50 disposable syringes.

- £100 a year will pay for the storage of 6,000 blood samples.
- £600 will allow us to buy a bench microcentrifuge for use in our laboratories.
- £1,000 will pay for the microarray experiments to analyse the difference in gene expression patterns between five cancer and five normal patient tissue samples.
- £5,000 will buy a gradient thermal cycler PCR machine for DNA amplification. This is needed for cloning DNA for use in experiments.
