Charity concert
Renowned baritone, Simon Gilbert with Mezzo Soprano Joanne Defries and accompanied by Richard Shaw, will be presenting a highly prestigious charity concert in aid the ICR.The concert is called Songs From The Musicals And Best Loved Classics and will consist of some of the most popular songs and duets from Oklahoma, Cats, Gigi, Les Miserables and My Fair Lady, as well as best loved songs of Cole Porter and nostalgic memories of The Victorian era. There will be two delightful piano pieces from Richard Shaw, and one of Simon's talented pupils will perform another favourite song from Les Miserables.
Simon made his operatic debut singing opposite Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti and was the leading man to Ginger Rogers in the musical 'Mame' at The Drury Lane theatre, and was the singing voice for Peter O'Toole in the film 'Man of La Mancha'.
