Imaging is becoming an increasingly important tool for determining if, and how, treatments are working. Importantly, it does this in a way which is non-invasive and avoids the need to sample tissue from the patient. Imaging techniques can also be used in the early stages of drug discovery, to help us understand how a drug is working and allow us to plan its onward development and clinical testing more effectively.
We are constructing a purpose-built Centre for Cancer Imaging on our campus in Sutton. The new facility will be shared across all our research teams, enabling us to speed up the development of new treatments for a wide range of cancers.
The total cost of the building is £20 million and thanks to the generosity of the Wolfson Foundation we have £8 million left to raise.
