Research Study
Childhood Overgrowth Study (COG)
Information for Professionals
The purpose of the Childhood Overgrowth Study (COG) is to identify, and better understand, the genetic factors that predispose to childhood overgrowth syndromes and/or asymmetric growth and to clarify the clinical features associated with these genetic factors. Such discoveries will facilitate a better understanding of the spectrum of childhood overgrowth phenotypes and will enable the development of guidelines for the diagnosis and management of affected individuals and their families.
Inclusion Criteria1. Overgrowth defined as height and/or head circumference ≥ 2 standard deviations above the mean (≥ 98th centile), and at least one additional clinical feature, such as: Learning difficulties Facial dysmorphism Congenital abnormality Skeletal abnormalities Neurological abnormalities Tumour 2. Asymmetric growth either static (for example, hemihypertrophy) or progressive (for example, Proteus). |
