Research Interests
To describe cellular signaling systems, the Bakal lab uses a combination of functional genomic, proteomic, and computational technologies.
Our research focuses on three main areas:
Cell Shape and Movement
This research looks at how cancer cells adopt different shapes during metastasis and what genes are responsible for metastasis.
Cellular Response to Stress
This research focuses on the control of reactive oxygen species and systems biology of the unfolded protein response.
Cell Cycle and Cell Division
This research focuses on the networks regulating cell division and mathematical modeling of the cell cycle
An interview with Dr Chris Bakal
Cells come in many shapes and sizes, Dr Chris Bakal is fascinated by their ability to change shape and migrate around the body - a process that goes out of control in cancer.
