Structure-based Drug Design Team
Team Leader: Dr Robert van Montfort
Location: Chester-Beatty Laboratories and Haddow Laboratories, London and Sutton
Section: Section of Structural Biology
Section: Section of Cancer Therapeutics
The Structure-based Drug Design team is a joint initiative between the Sections of Structural Biology and Cancer Therapeutics and is focused on the structure-based design of novel drugs for the treatment of cancer. We use a combination of high-throughput X-ray crystallography, in silico medicinal chemistry and biophysical methods to probe protein-ligand interactions throughout the hit-generation, hit validation and lead optimisation phases of drug discovery projects at The Institute.
The multidisciplinary team includes protein biochemists, in silico medicinal chemists and protein crystallographers and has strong links with Medicinal Chemistry, High-Throughput Screening (HTS) and Target Discovery teams from the Section of Cancer Therapeutics as well as with the other Structural Biology teams at The Institute.
