Practical and Theoretical Radiotherapy Physics Course
Course Summary
This course provides the necessary practical and theoretical background for the support of a radiotherapy physics service within radiotherapy. It is aimed primarily at recently qualified radiotherapy physicists, but should also be invaluable to post-graduate students, researchers, clinical oncologists, engineers, radiographers, manufacturers’ representatives and in fact, anyone needing to deepen or update their understanding of this rapidly evolving field.
The faculty is composed of physicists, clinicians and radiographers, many of whom are internationally renowned for their expertise. Saturday workshops and demonstrations make full use of the facilities of the Radiotherapy and Physics Departments of the Royal Marsden Foundation Trust. The course is reviewed annually to reflect changes in practice and technology.
November 8th - 13th 2010 Radiation Dosimetry, Treatment Planning and Treatment Techniques
March 8th - 12th 2011 Treatment Machines, QA, Radiobiology, Brachytherapy and Radiotherapy Imaging
The March week is held at the Chelsea campus.
The November week is held at the Sutton campus of The Institute of Cancer Research.
Fees, Booking and Registration
The cost for each week is £720. For those wishing to book for both weeks, the fees will be £1250. Please note that each course week runs from Tuesday until Saturday. This is to enable the practical and demonstration sessions on each Saturday to run more effectively in our clinical departments. However, a reduced cost ‘lectures only’ option from Tuesday to Friday inclusive, at a rate of £600 for 1 week and £1000 for 2 weeks, is also available.
External, full-time PhD students with proof of academic registration can book the 8 lecture days of both weeks for a total of £500.
All fees include lecture notes, hot lunches, light refreshments, a special buffet and the Course dinner. A CD of the course notes will be sent to participants at least two weeks before the start of the course. Accommodation is available in local hotels at approximately £80 per night extra; details will be sent on registration.
For registration details you can email the Course Secretary.
