Our laboratory is focussed on the molecular pathology of childhood cancer. The goal of our work is to identify molecular alterations in paediatric tumours which can be exploited in the diagnostic, prognostic/predictive and therapeutic settings. This involves the application of modern molecular and genomic techniques to pathological specimens, and much effort is made to evaluate and develop new methodologies and resources to assist in our aims, all of which are made freely available to the research community. The subsequent application of such techniques is organised along three key themes:
- The molecular basis of morphological classification
- Tumour profiling and clinical outcome
- Functional validation and preclinical assessment of tumour markers
