Section of Molecular Carcinogenesis

A major theme of the work of the Section remains the application of the latest molecular biological technologies to clinical problems identified through our links with the Royal Marsden. However, there have been a number of important recent developments that have caused us to refine our detailed strategy. These developments include the refocusing of The Institute's strategy to place the Cancer Genome Project at the heart of its activities; the development of particularly close collaborations between Dr Janet Shipley's group with Professor Kathy Pritchard-Jones' group in the Section of Paediatric Oncology; and the increasing amount of high quality genetic information that is becoming available from the Human Genome Project.
