Novel Genes Involved in Somitogenesis
Using our own modification of differential display on presomitic mesoderm versus early somites we have isolated novel genes. This enabled us to successfully to identify a family of leucine rich membrane proteins (NLRR1 and FLRT3) whose expression pattern indicates a role in somite development. It will be necessary to knock-out each of these genes so as to define their function.
