Chromatin-Modifying Enzyme Inhibitors
Signal Transduction and Molecular Pharmacology Team
Section: Section of Cancer Therapeutics (including the Cancer Research UK Centre for Cancer Therapeutics)
Various modifications on specific chromatin residues constitute a ‘histone code’ that regulates gene transcription. There is good evidence that chromatin-modifying enzymes are deregulated in cancer and represent exciting new cancer drug targets.
We are collaborating with the Analytical Technology and Screening Team and Centre chemists to develop and understand the mechanism of action of inhibitors of chromatin-modifying enzymes. These include histone acetylases and deacetylases and histone methyltransferases.
