Peptide Synthesis Facility
The Peptide Synthesis Facility in our Gene and Oncogene Targeting Team was established in September 1998 and is located at the Sutton site. The chemistry used is based upon Fmoc strategy and synthesis is carried out on an ABi 433A Peptide Synthesiser. There are three sizes of synthesis available, 0.1mmol, 0.25mmol and 1.0mmol.
The Facility provides custom made peptides for The Institute and Cancer Research UK budget holders. All peptides are characterised and validated by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and RP-HPLC.
There are additional modifications available, including phosphorylation, acetylation, myristoylation, fluorescent tagging and biotinylation. If more specialised modifications are needed, these can be discussed individually.
The time period for completion is usually within 2-3 weeks, depending upon length of peptide, amount requested and complexity of the peptide.
The cost of each peptide is calculated individually by the amino acids used, modification, the purity and the scale of synthesis required.
All peptides are dispatched as a lyophilised solid, as this is their most stable form.
