Division of Clinical Studies
Head of Division: Professor Stan Kaye
Deputy Head of Division: Professor Judith Bliss
The delivery of the ICR’s Scientific Strategy and in particular “Developing Personalised Medicine” requires the conduct of clinical research across the whole range of tumour types and treatment modalities, and from first in man Phase 1 studies to large-scale international randomised control trials.
Elements of activity in Medicine, Paediatrics, Haematology and Surgery and The Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials and Statistics Unit (ICR-CTSU) have been brought together as a single Division of Clinical Studies with the aim of optimising the framework for the conduct of both early and late phase clinical trials, in particular facilitating the development of trial protocols for targeted agents that run across multiple tumour types while sharing a particular genetic/molecular abnormality. The joint appointments of Faculty in this Division and the Divisions of Cancer Biology, Cancer Therapeutics or Radiology and Imaging will ensure that scientific and technical developments are rapidly taken through to testing in the clinic.
The Division incorporates many senior hospital consultants who hold an honorary academic appointment in the ICR and who, along with others in the Division, are responsible for leading the conduct of clinical trials within The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
