The primary aim is to test the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy in reducing arm lymphoedema in patients suffering long-term adverse effects of high dose radiotherapy for early breast cancer. A secondary aim is to test mechanisms of tissue reperfusion and healing in response to HB.
Accrual began in 2006 and 63 patents are required for this trial. This is a randomised controlled trial and all interested volunteers will be referred to Professor Yarnold at the Royal Marsden Hospital, from where relevant medical information will be retrieved and eligibility criteria checked.
