The Flow Cytometry facility is part of the Cancer Research UK Centre for Cancer Therapeutics, Cell Cycle Control team. The unit is equipped with a Beckman Coulter Elite ESP cell sorter with two lasers, blue (488nm) and UV. There is also a Beckman Coulter FC500 bench-top analyser with two lasers, blue (488nm) and red (630nm), which is housed separately.

The service provides a variety of cell analytical techniques including DNA analysis, studies of apoptosis, identification of cellular subsets and functional studies. The Elite ESP is capable of sorting cells two ways either onto slides for further analysis by microscopy or into tubes or tissue culture plates for further study.
