The Forefront of Cancer Research: The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust Launch Their Annual Research Report

The Institute of Cancer Research and The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust today launch their Annual Research Report. The Report is a joint publication highlighting important achievements and significant progress in cancer research made by the partnership over the past year. Together, The Institute and The Royal Marsden form Europe’s largest Comprehensive Cancer Centre, with an outstanding national and international reputation.

 

The Report includes in-depth reviews of exciting developments in selected areas of cancer research. Highlights from this year include the development of new treatments for prostate cancer and cutting-edge new surgical techniques for treating rectal cancer.

 

Professor Peter Rigby, Chief Executive of The Institute of Cancer Research said: "The unique relationship between The Institute and The Royal Marsden brings together more than 3,000 scientists, clinicians and nurses dedicated to the fight against cancer. Our partnership allows us to speed up the translation from scientific discovery to medical practice bringing benefits to patients as soon as possible. The Annual Research Report showcases some of the great work our teams are undertaking and highlights just how important our partnership is in making suffering from cancer a thing of the past."
