The Institute Congratulates Sir Ara Darzi on his Appointment as Parliamentary Under Secretary in the Department of Health

Sir Ara Darzi, has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary in the Department of Health by the new Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

 

The Professor is Chairman of the Section of Surgery at The Institute of Cancer Research and an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. He also holds the Paul Hamlyn Chair of Surgery, a joint post between The Institute of Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden and Imperial College.

 

Jonathan Kipling, Secretary of The Institute of Cancer Research, said: “We would like to congratulate Sir Ara on his appointment. It is a great achievement.

 

“It is good news that such a distinguished surgeon has been appointed to the Department of Health. His years of experience will put him in good stead to help push forwards some of the key issues in healthcare today.”
