X-ray Crystallography Facility

The X-ray Crystallography Facility provides tools for the crystallisation and X-ray analysis of biological material.

The crystallisation equipment provided by the facility allows researchers to prepare a variety of samples for X-ray diffraction. Methods available at the facility include: custom crystallisation screens; crystallisation using a limited supply of protein; crystallisation under oil and microseeding; and sitting-drop 96-well crystal plate experiment setup.

Users of the facility have access to two X-ray systems, which can be used for in-house screening prior to synchrotron trips, principally to the ESRF in Grenoble and the Diamond Light Source, Oxford.

Programmable incubators are available near the X-ray systems to store crystals during experiments.
