Pensions at the ICR

The ICR offers staff membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). The USS is a defined benefit and is an excellent staff benefit. The rate of contributions is by USS and details of the costs and benefits of this scheme can be found on their website. If staff are transferring from the NHS, they can opt to remain members of the NHS Pension Scheme.

Family Friendly

The ICR offers a range of benefits to staff with caring responsibilities. These include:

• A Childcare Voucher Scheme enabling employees to receive vouchers in exchange for a portion of their salary without having to pay tax or national insurance contributions on the money that is sacrificed.
• A flexible working framework to facilitate the balance between work and caring responsibilities.
• Access to Carer Co-ordinators who can provide advice and support on all aspects of caring responsibilities.
• Childcare support via holiday play schemes and emergency childcare services.

The ICR is also a member of the Tommy’s Pregnancy Accreditation Programme giving employees access to a pregnancy information line and email service, access to online guides and a bespoke members’ area accessible from work or home.

Staff Welfare

All staff have access to an Occupational Health department offering a range of services including advice and information, health promotion events and treatments such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, reflexology and chiropody.

The ICR also provides access to the Positive People Company assistance programme for employees, students and their families. The programme provides advice and information services and a confidential counselling service.

Staff restaurants on both sites offer hot and cold foods, snacks and beverages.

Sports and Social Facilities

At Sutton there is a gym which is free to all staff; a sports and social club which has an indoor swimming pool, bar, squash court and large sports hall in which a wide variety of activities are held. Membership of the club is free to all staff (there is a small charge for some activities and the pool).

There is a Cross Site Social Committee that organises various social activities, to encourage staff from across the ICR to get to know each other. Past events have included an annual quiz night, a barn dance and a salsa evening.

Discounts

Staff are provided with interest free loans to enable them to take advantage of discounted season tickets for travel, car-parking or bicycle purchase.

Staff are eligible to shop through the NHS discounts website and are able to obtain discounts on a wide range of goods and services. We also have discounted monthly rates/joining fees with David Lloyd and Holmes Place gyms at Epsom and Fulham.
