Professor Mel Greaves

The Institute of Cancer Research (a College of the University of London) is a world-class cancer research organisation.  In the 2008 Higher Education Funding Councils' Research Assessment Exercise, The ICR received the highest percentage of research assessed as four stars, world leading, in the areas of biological sciences and cancer studies.  We came top of the Times Higher Education overall table of HEIs  that submitted to more than one UoA - ranking it as the UK's leading academic research centre, with 37% of activity ranked 4* (world leading) and 42% ranked 3* (internationally excellent).  The ICR also leads all UK Higher Education Institutions in the impact of the research papers in biomedical sciences and has done so since the UK HE Research Yearbook was first published in 2002.

Senior scientific appointments at the ICR offer access to a wealth of challenging and rewarding opportunities. The ICR’s Faculty offers scientists of outstanding calibre a non-limited contract and the opportunities to independently research areas that are compatible with priority research areas of the ICR.

Career Development Faculty/Team Leader appointments are designed to attract individuals who have excelled as Postdoctoral scientists, have a very strong publishing record and wish to pursue independent research programmes.

Our Registered Office at 123 Old Brompton Road is the base for our corporate services; these non-scientific senior posts are vital to the smooth running of The ICR.
