The aim of the IEU is to promote and disseminate the educational, research and clinical activities of the ICR, by exploiting new media, to improve the treatment, care and quality of life of people with cancer.
The IEU endeavours to fulfil this aim by
exploiting new media to enhance the education of cancer specialist
researchers and clinicians, and has a number of key objectives:
- Research and develop materials to support learning and
teaching for postgraduate students and scientific and medical
staff at the ICR
- Explore potential new areas which lend themselves to an
interactive approach
- Exploit new technologies in the development of learning
materials
- Enhance the ICR’s reputation for postgraduate
learning and teaching within the UK and internationally
- Raise the profile of learning and teaching both internally
and externally
- Promote both internal and external links and partnerships
and in particular, utilise the ICR’s association
with The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
The IEU has the following main markets for its work, in order
of priority:
- Internal postgraduate students and scientific and medical
staff
- External scientific and healthcare communities
- Patients
- The general public
