Student Committee

Our Union is small, and has a membership of approximately 180 full-time and part-time research degree students and over 100 part-time taught postgraduate students.

Student representation

The ICR encourages student representation in decision-making. Our representatives attend various Institute-wide committees from the Board of Trustees (the equivalent of a university council) through to the Academic Board and to programme-specific committees such as the Research Degrees Committee.

Students can also raise issues through the Student Liaison Committee, chaired by the Student President. Training is available for student reps. Students’ views are also sought through an annual questionnaire.

Events

A range of Distinguished Lectures is provided annually by leading oncologists from around the world.

Social activities for students are organised by members of the Student Committee for students based on both sites. There are also events and facilities aimed at students on the individual sites.

The students organise an accommodation day each year to help new students find accommodation.
