Education Strategy & Support Services
The ICR’s mission is to relieve suffering due to cancer; major strategies include both education and the furthering of knowledge through scientific advancement. The programme of postgraduate research and taught courses is intrinsic to these strategies and forms part of a commitment to the current and future pursuit of excellence in the fight against cancer.
The Academic Board reports to the Board of Trustees upon all academic and teaching matters and questions of education policy. It ensures that the ICR, as a college of the University of London, has a rigorous and responsive Quality Assurance (QA) framework in place, and develops and delivers the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Strategy.
Student involvement is an essential element of the decision-making process and student representation is preserved in the Institute’s Articles of Association.
Supporting the learning of students and widening personal and professional development for all is given high priority within the ICR. For example, online resources and onsite facilities present staff and students with the ability to work in their own time at their own pace wherever they are located.
By providing world-class expertise and support to students at the ICR, we hope to advance cancer research and clinical practice not only within our organisation, but throughout the field. Our alumni continue to follow successful careers across the globe, many being world leaders in their discipline.
