Environment and infrastructure
Our commitment is described in our Environmental Policy and our Statement of Health, Safety and Environment Policy. Our initiatives are co-ordinated by our Facilities team and supported by a team of volunteer Environmental Champions.
We are committed to reducing the amount of waste that is sent to landfill and have recently completed a project to review all aspects of our waste management. We are also in the process of implementing our Green Travel Plan. The ICR also has a sustainable purchasing policy.
Ecocampus award
In November 2011 we successfully achieved the Ecocampus Gold and Platinum awards and now have a robust environmental management system in place.
ICR is one of the very first higher education institutions to achieve this award, equivalent to the ISO 14001 standard. We have also successfully completed our Carbon Management Plan in conjunction with the Carbon Trust.
Through our participation in the Ecocampus Project and membership of EAUC and the London Universities Environment Group (LUEG) we are able to co-ordinate our environmental management in collaboration with other universities.
